Professor Yunlong Zhou received his PhD degree from National Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2010). Then he worked in Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Michigan and Department of Nanomedicine, Houston Methodist Hospital as a postdoctoral researcher (2010 ˗ 2014). His research explores the self-assembly of inorganic nanoparticles, biointerface between nanomaterials and biomolecule, and bio-related flexible devices. He has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed international journals (such as Nature Communications, Journal of American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, ACS Nano). His work has been cited more than 2000 times.
Our research group has been focusing on synthesis and bio-inspired self-assembly of medical function materials, including inorganic materials, supramolecular materials, and inorganic-macromolecular composite intelligent sensing materials. We have proposed an inorganic tetrahedral model and dynamic multipoint bonding model of mesoscopic scale and elaborate the interaction mechanism between materials and biomolecules by a variety of analysis methods and molecular dynamics simulation. The preparation strategy and theoretical models of high viscoelastic inorganic hydrogel were also systematically studied to apply in biosensors. Combined with clinical requirements, we have developed a series of flexible portable electronic devices which can be used for health monitoring and medical diagnosis, in order to explore the application in aspects of real-time monitoring of cytometry, sign language recognition, pulse manifestation, and VR equipment for stroke rehabilitation. The sources of scientific research funds were the National Natural Science Foundation, National Health Commission Foundation, Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province, and Research Institute Major Projects, etc. Since 2016, more than 20 refereed journal publications published in Nature Communications, ACS nano，Chemical Science etc. (citations 2100), and 26 patents have been granted.

Wenzhou Institute is a tripartite cooperative institution established by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wenzhou People’s Government and Wenzhou Medical University in May 2019, which is a secondary college affiliated with University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The institute is a new type of research institution with core development fields of life and health, medical intelligent equipment, which integrates basic research, achievement transformation and entrepreneurial incubation.
Our research group has been focusing on self-assembly nanomaterials, and interfacial chemical regulatory assembly of nanomaterials.
1) Scientific issues related to the natural property “chirality” of material (including structural chemistry, chiral biocatalysis, and tissue regeneration);
2) The relationship between mechanism of viscoelasticity of self-assembled materials and macroscopic properties;
3) Application of the aforementioned materials in intelligent clinical health monitoring.
Application researches are mainly carried out with clinicians and industrial companies to study the material application in aspects of tissue repair and flexible electronic devices. Our laboratory is equipped with basic analysis equipment, such as gloveboxes, bacterial operation boxes, imported freeze dryers, UV-visible spectrum, and fluorescence spectrum. Since May 2019, our research group and the Wenzhou Institute have entered rapid developed period, and tried to explore basic scientific and technical issues and address clinical problems on the basis of self-assembly chemistry. The research group emphasizes on cooperation and collaboration, and eagerly looks forward to invite domestic and foreign outstanding doctoral students who have research experiences in nanomaterial synthesis and assembly, biomimetic peptide structure and function design, bone tissue and neural tissue regeneration, and flexible electronics. Let us work and live in Wenzhou, a city has beautiful environment of green mountains and clear waters.
